Try Out a Trek Madone

On July 27, the Chicago Criterium bike race will be passing in front of the Trek Bicycle store at 1118 S. Michigan Ave.

To celebrate race day, Trek will bring in a fleet of Trek Madone bicycles for customers to test ride from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Trek Bicycle store on Michigan Avenue is the nation’s first green Trek concept store. It was built from floor to ceiling with environmental concerns in mind. Recycled carpet and bamboo cover the floors, and the walls are painted with special non-toxic paint. The countertops are made of recycled wood. The staff uses reusable rags—never paper towels—for cleaning, and they do not use shopping bags.

On the day of the Criterium, members of the Vitaminwater-Trek Cycling Team will appear at the store, as will be representatives of Farr Associates, the architecture firm behind the building design.

For more information, visit the store’s Web site at www.windycitytrek.com.
